The Salvation Army of North Texas Welcomes New Area Commanders
The Salvation Army of North Texas, the largest social services provider in the region, is honored to welcome Majors Rob and Carolynn Webb as the newly appointed area commanders. They have succeeded Majors Paul and Dawn McFarland, who assumed the role in June 2022.
Having led The Salvation Army’s operations in Houston, San Antonio, and beyond, Majors Webb bring vast social service and administrative experience to the North Texas region. In their new role, Majors Rob and Carolynn Webb will oversee operations that support those combatting poverty, addiction, and homelessness in Dallas, Tarrant and Ellis, and Denton and Collin counties to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
“One of the neat things about being Salvation Army officers is that we get to serve side by side, not just with each other, but with the communities God calls us to,” said Majors Rob and Carolynn Webb. “We felt the Lord calling us into this work many years ago, and that calling has only grown stronger. Now, stepping into North Texas, we see so many families facing real struggles—trying to stay housed, keep food on the table, and hold onto hope. We’re here to meet people where they are, walk with them, and support the transformational work The Salvation Army offers every single day.”
Majors Rob and Carolynn Webb have served in The Salvation Army ministry for three decades, faithfully dedicating their lives to a wide range of positions. Their extensive experience includes leadership, instructional roles at The Salvation Army College for Officer Training in Atlanta, and with The Salvation Army in Virginia, Florida, and Texas. Commissioned and ordained in 1995, the Webbs have been married for 36 years and are proud parents of three sons, all active in the mission of The Salvation Army. They also cherish their role as grandparents to their three grandsons.
“With a legacy of service that reflects a strong business acumen and a dedicated approach to community engagement, Majors Rob and Carolynn Webb bring a powerful presence to North Texas,” said Mark Schortman, Advisory Board Chair for The Salvation Army of North Texas. “As North Texans continue to face rising costs and shrinking resources, their leadership will be instrumental in helping us build deeper relationships, expand our reach, and meet urgent needs with dignity and care. I’m confident their presence will inspire renewed momentum across our mission, from the families we serve to the donors and volunteers who make this work possible.”
In North Texas, The Salvation Army’s four shelters, two senior living facilities, and two in-residence addiction recovery centers are housing 1,300 people per night, 12 food pantries are feeding 10,000 people per week, and three recovery programs are treating 500 people per week.
